About

Wondering about the person behind this site, well you must have been to end up here, either that or you lead a very sad life. Where do I start ? What do you want to know about me ? OK I’ll have a go at this but it isn’t really my thing.

My obsession with computers started in 1995, not sure as to why, never really took much notice of them until I had an impulse to buy one (crazy kind of idea). Well I brought a very basic Packard Bell, well to cut a long story short that pile of s**t went back shortly after purchase So having got the computer bug, it didn’t take long for the refund just obtained to burn a hole in my pocket. Ended up with a 486DX4 100mhz, complete with CD-ROM and sound card (It was until very recently still working and running my Smoothwall Firewall).

So I got me a computer, what next ? Well I kind of got into learning to program using the C programming language. I then started studying with the Open University in 1997 (T102 – Living with Technology). That first course, although only one section of it to do with computers, got me completely hooked. The year 2001 saw me reach my goal, being employed as a Junior Software Engineer (C and KSH Shell Programming on the QNX  4.2x Operating System), it took a lot of hard work  to get there. I improved from the Junior role, and reached Senior Software Architect (C and Shell programming on QNX [7-Years Experience] and Linux [10-Years Experience], doing lots of low level vehicle communications coding [ISO15765 / ISO14229 / ISO9141 ...]) and still to this day loving the work I do. I have quite recently started learning C# (Visual Studio 2005), I suppose everyone has to learn to code for Windows sometime in their life.

I started on this site in September-1999 (just after I started using Linux as my full time OS) and it’s gone through various redesigns along the way. I really started to devote more time to this site from January 2001 and I’m pleased with what I have achieved to date. Designing this site has taken up most of the spare time I have when I’m not studying, and it’s extremely enjoyable. I have had very little time over the last couple of years to add any kind of content to my sites. I hope this has changed now, as I wish to bring the sites content as up to date as possible. I really have neglected things with much of the content being way out of date. Well family life has settled down a little now so I hope to get things sorted. I wish to thank everyone who visits the site for your continued support.

If you wish to contact me, then please send an e-mail to – inc at incubus dot co dot uk. Well there you go, not much about me, but enough for my liking, If you get a spare moment I welcome your comments. Thank you — Len.
